9:30am Data-Centric Security Framework - Building a Framework for a Comprehensive Data Security Strategy

Sensitive information such as intellectual property, trade secrets, financial records, personal data and customer credit card information are some of the most important assets to enterprise organizations. Yet, while most organizations adequately protect against external threats - they lack a strategy for understanding, managing, and protecting information assets from leaving their organization.

Data Loss Prevention is a term that refers to systems that identify, monitor and protect data that is (a) in Use, (b) In Motion and (c) at Rest. The system is designed to detect and prevent unauthorized use and unauthorized transmission of confidential information.

So, how do companies enforce better business practices in the handling of sensitive data?

By taking a holistic approach that ensures robust data lifecycle management and validation of expected data inventories using data discovery in preparation for a successful DLP product installation.

Join us as we address the following topics and more:

  • Are you confident that your employees are following company policies and procedures?
  • How are you ensuring that your corporate assets are being protected against both internal and external threats?
  • What would it cost you if an employee lost one laptop

1:00pm Demystifying the Cloud –Building Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

An introductory overview of building an internal or private cloud computing platform that incorporates a holistic virtualized “Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas)”
With years of experience in building some of the largest private cloud architectures, INX’s Al Kari will outline concepts and technologies that enabled the evolution of cloud computing and an overall industry roadmap, as well as a consolidated approach to the basic building blocks and components in the virtual IT infrastructure, including Next Generation Server Platforms, Hypervisors Software, 10GB Unified Fabric Networking Interconnect and a Shared Storage Backend.
At the end of this presentation, participants will walk away with an understanding of what cloud computing is, what it does and what options are available today for an IT environment of any size to move forward with a cloud/virtualization initiative to take advantage of this service model’s financial, management and operational benefits.

1:00pm Next Generation Data Protection

The next evolutionary step in backup technology has widely been regarded to be deduplication. The benefits are tangible and extremely practical: eliminating duplicate data in secondary storage archives can slash costs, streamline management tasks and minimize the bandwidth required to replicate data. In short, deduplication improves efficiency and saves money. Each vendor lays claim to having the best approach to data deduplication, leaving customers to determine which factors are most important to their business. Companies must consider a number of key factors in order to select a data deduplication solution that actually delivers cost-effective, high-performance and scalable long-term data storage. In this technical session we hope to assist customers with this task by showing them how to: 1. Address the Principal Issue 2. Assimilation with current environments 3. Capacity planning 4. Assess vendor capabilities 5. Impacts on performance and scalability

10:20am Maintaining Control and Compliance in Cloud Computing: Data-centric Information Security

The success of Software-as-a-service (SaaS) Cloud-based processes have fast become the next-generation SOA solutions for a number of today’s applications. Corporate acceptances of Cloud-based processes have moved beyond CRMs and Web Portals toward more traditional core business applications.

The introduction of these approaches into the traditional enterprise has definite business advantages, but also some serious governance, compliance and security implications. The "virtual" nature of Cloud removes many of the physical work-flow and control points to contain sensitive information. This session will provide details on the impact of Cloud on information security and the data-centric solutions for specific use-cases.

Takeaway Points:

·         What are the information risks in moving to the Cloud?

·         How can sensitive information be used within the Cloud?

·         What are the data-centric solutions for isolation of information in a Cloud?

1:00pm Social Networking and Network Security:  Balancing the Value with The Risk?

With hundreds of millions of users sharing information about their personal and professional lives and trusting anybody on their “friends” list, it’s understandable that most security professionals can’t be found on Facebook.   Threat developers and attackers use social networks as primary vector to compromise their victims, and organizations are deeply concerned about potential security issues surrounding social networks.  But tremendous amounts of information is being shared on social networks, and increasingly, private and public sector organizations are using social applications to communicate with customers, partners, and constituents.  So if social networks are more and more “how business gets done,” how should security professionals respond?  This talk will explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with social networks on behalf of the security professional.
